These will be kept offline to free up resources, allowing EA's engineering and IT teams to "focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99 percent of customers playing our more popular games." "But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level — typically fewer than 1 percent of all peak online players across all EA titles — where it's no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running," the statement reads.
It was previously stated that Crysis, Crysis 2, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Star Wars: Empire at War - Gold Pack, also listed below, will cease official online operations when Game Spy shuts down.
However, it was confirmed recently that free Mac and Windows PC program Game Ranger will keep Star Wars: Battlefront 2 multiplayer running after May 31.

If not, go to: \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\Settings Open up video with notepad Change renderer.allow All Refresh Rates 0 to read renderer.allow All Refresh Rates 1 Still got issues?
If it's fairly old (2 years) your drivers are not up to date. There was a trick that DX-The Game posted in the BF2 Forum that seemed to help some folks with the CTD in certain cases. I play on a laptop and I only have 60Hz, so I dunno if that rez you're running at 75Mhz shows up in the list in BF2142 as a default.
Any problems highlighted will mean you probably need to replace the affected DIMM (RAM stick). You can first check your RAM is in matched pairs (same make, size & speed in same coloured slots), and if not, assuming you have two sticks, remove one stick for testing purposes (yes it'll run and load slower, but if CTD dissappears then it's memory related).
Run through a complete set of tests whilst you're out at work/school whatever as this takes simply ages with over a GB of RAM, but is very thorough.
Follow the instructions here: % Crash To Desktop...
If you dont know what audiocard you've got, you can find it in the 4th tab. If this resolves your problem, then you have a conflict and should slide the Acceleration level back up one step at a time after going through point 5. Duplicate CD key or GUID / Invalid CD Key / Punk Buster Kick (Punkbuster kick with no message after patching/updating EA Link).
Game freeze & Audio corruption Ensure your audio drivers are up-to-date. If it still CTDs, swap the RAM stick over for another and re-test. If you are on Vista and you are using wireless, you will get a lag spike every 60 seconds.
